Organising a wedding in 2 months!!! You can with Creative Brides!

06 March 2017

Creative Brides is one of my favourite websites! It has great features on weddings, tutorials, free printables and a supplier directory too!

We wanted to know all the nitty gritty about Clair and the story behind Creative brides

Tell us about Creative Brides?

Since the launch of Creative Brides in 2013 we have grown, evolved and enjoyed working with like-minded suppliers. Creative Brides is all about inspiring brides to style their day in their own unique way - we love a wedding that shows personality and embraces creativity.

What is the most unique feature of creative brides?

I think our unique feature would have to be the wedding fairs we host at unique venues (very much like our Totally WOW Wedding Fair at The Night Yard in May). Our wedding fairs are very different from other wedding fairs/open days. Our fairs are aimed at couples who are looking for fun, creative and passionate suppliers and for those who are looking for something different to make their wedding day more personal.

Looking at the Creative Brides website what has been your favourite DIY project that you have featured?

Oh gosh there have been so many. I really like the simple DIY’s that everyone can do, they can be inexpensive, but still fun to do. A favourite of mine are the Straw Flags, they take minutes to do and can be used across all celebrations, not just weddings. Here is the link ‘Straw Flags’

Working with the team at creative brides what do you enjoy most about your job?

Exactly that! I’m really, really, really lucky to work alongside some amazing suppliers. Many have become friends and it’s great to see their businesses grow. Although I’m very jealous of the weddings they work on, there are such creative couples out there!

You recently got married yourself, what did you enjoy the most during the run up to your wedding?

I really struggled with the planning process; people always find that a little odd seeing as I’m surrounded by such beautiful weddings. We organised our wedding in about two months. The venue had been booked for about 12 months (The George in Rye), but I had also given birth to George who took up a lot of time, energy and head space. I decided the only thing was for us to call upon some Creative Brides suppliers. I gave them some rough idea of what we were looking for ‘Ashdown forest, but inside’ (we live on Ashdown Forest and it’s a big part of our lives), and then we basically handed over our wedding…

I couldn’t thank Rachel and David from Hire Love enough. Rachel just knew what we wanted, and boy did they deliver. They bought in furniture and props (lots of it) and styled our wedding to perfection – I don’t think there any words that can explain how hard they worked!

Florist in the Forest provided our flowers and Purple Flour our cake.

After months of planning and envisaging your day what were you most pleased with?

Oh that’s a tough question as all the suppliers and venue worked so hard to make our wedding perfect. But I’m so chuffed that we chose Livvy Hukins Photography as our photographer. Livvy captured some amazing memories for us to treasure. Mr CB and I did a ‘first look’, which we had some photos before we got married. Our ceremony was at 5pm in November, so the daylight went at about 3:30ish. It was important to me that we have some pictures of just us around beautiful Rye.

Is there anything you would have done differently?

I would have had someone look after George all day. Although I had a schedule of who was looking after George at what time, it just didn’t work. He was teething, we had no sleep the night before and I just couldn’t relax. Thankfully I had my friend coming down in the evening to look after George after the ceremony, meaning the mums could go and get ready.

What is your top tip?

  • Trust your suppliers, they know what they are doing and can offer great advice.
  • Make lists in a notebook that you can cross out – it clears the head!
  • Get childcare!!
